B. Theodore Bozonelis, Retired, January 31, 2017
Mr. Bozonelis, the former Assignment Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey for the Morris and Sussex Vicinage, will provide mediation, arbitration and Special Master services.
He was appointed a Judge of the Superior Court, State of New Jersey in 1990 and served in all Divisions of the Judiciary with distinction until his retirement in 2011. He was the Presiding Judge in the Criminal and Family Divisions and Presiding Judge in the Civil Division, Special Civil Part.
In 2003, he was appointed as the Assignment (Chief) Judge for the Morris and Sussex Vicinage where he oversaw the administration of the State and Municipal Courts in Morris and Sussex Counties. During his time at the Superior Court, Mr. Bozonelis served as a member and Chair of the State Judicial Council which supervises the State Judiciary and, in that capacity, served on the Judicial Council's Management and Operations Committee and Advisory Committee on Emergency Critical Functions.
As Assignment Judge, Mr. Bozonelis maintained a calendar of general equity, probate, foreclosure and actions in lieu of prerogative writ matters, including a calendar of all land use, election law and civil decision injunctive relief requests originating in the Morris and Sussex Vicinage.
Mr. Bozonelis has served as a Judicial Master and Instructor for the Worrall F. Mountain Inn of Court and lectured at the Annual Judicial College Retreat and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He served as Chair of the District X Ethics Committee for Morris and Sussex Counties, as a Law Clerk of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
Mr. Bozonelis currently serves as a member of Governor Christie's Judicial Advisory Panel which evaluates candidates for appointment to the New Jersey Courts.
